The Town House was made by Robert Gurney architect, which is located in Washington DC, USA. This modern contemporary house was built over a century ago and become a part of a historic district. The house was completely redesigned and what was left from the traditional house design was the façade of limestone with a slight modification.

As you go inside this contemporary house with historical values, you will be amazed as it’s totally different in the interior design. The architect uses minimalist design with contemporary approach but still using the original structural system, so as to ensure the smooth blends inside this historic house. A skylight is used on the top level on this Town house to illuminates the place.

The brick walls are painted white and blue giving this minimalist house a more cool effect. To connect the spaces of the third level steel bridge is used. The steel and glass materials used at this contemporary three storey house unify the overall design. The result is a modern space within a typology of city housing, yet without leaving the traditional façade on the exterior. Check out more on Robert Gurney Architect
