Papuma Village, A Wonderful Small Ethnic Village Made Out of Coconut Trees with Great Beach View in Indonesia

Papuma Village, as you hear the name of this village which is located in Indonesia, precisely in a small town named Jember, you will notice that the name is strange but this ethnic village has amazing serene and beautiful ocean view. The resort cabins are all made 90% out of coconut trees, while the wooden stairway is made out of timber, and thus making the Papuma village a sustainable village from our point of view. Why do we call this village a sustainable village? Firstly it’s because illegal logging is wide spread in Indonesia and the use of coconut trees as alternative for housing materials are just so original. Secondly, it’s very hard these days to get yourself a quality timber, so to use local materials are good options and these materials could also be the solution to end the illegal logging happened in this country.

Coconut trees are strong wooden materials but their biggest enemy like those sustainable coconut cabins are termites. We’d asked the guard that these cabins get weekly check up in order termites don’t destroy the building. We took a quick look at one of the cabins where they’re all have the same setup, consisting of bedroom and a bathroom and wooden deck design with gorgeous view of the ocean. Form here you can hear the breeze and hear the crashing of waves, which makes it a complete vacation spot. Back to this sustainable cabin’s interior, the cabin was designed using minimalist approach. Inside you will find TV, air conditioning, spring bed, and outdoor bathroom complete with a hot shower. We like the bathroom interior where the walls surrounding it are made of natural river stone.

It’s a complete blend of materials and great vista that can be enjoyed by everyone. With just around forty American dollars per night, including local breakfast, this sweet villa is a great sensation to the wild. The surrounding of this small village is still wild, but alas alack you can’t surf here as the waves isn’t good for surfing. If you’re looking for a small village with a great view and astounding environment, or perhaps you’re stranded in this small town, then just go to this place. It also has a good original tasty grilled fish which is affordable to everyone. We were also looking around at the whole place and thought that it can be explored much more and the chances are open wide if you’re willing to invest and build a hotel and amusement park here. Enjoy the photo.
