British magazine, HouseToHome recently chatted some design and decoration experts about what decorating trends are going to be in 2009. If you want to be up to date you definitely should check them out.
Geometric
Design director of Harlequin, Claire Vallis, new trends for 2009 predictions.
I’m a big fan of this flowing geometric-design wallpaper with its Art Deco inspiration – it’s just so right for now! Wonderfully simple and yet so effective, the dark tones and metallic hits are bang on trend. Whether you use it on a feature wall or all over, it’s guaranteed to bring warmth and depth to any room.
Here are some examples:
The wallpaper could be bought from Harlequin, Hedda cushion cover from IKEA, Silver wave vase from John Lewis and the Chappell rug from Argos.
Natrual Beauty
Gillian Farr, head of home design for Laura Ashley, told his predictions
Natural products that are both stylish and practical will be an important trend this season.
Nawton nest of tables by Laura Ashley, Oak woodvase by ASDA, Willow fennel cushion by John Lewis.
Retro Brights
200 trends predictions by Natalie Pead, head of PR for Next.
My 2009 hot purchase will be this Bruno green floor lamp, Next. The retro trend is really strong on the high street this season and with their oversized dimensions and acid citrus shades, the items in the Bruno Collection are real conversation pieces. The lamp is an inexpensive statement buy for any living space.
Flora cushion by The London Cushion Company, Kilo side table by Habitat and Cork chair by Heal’s.
Vintage glamour
Julie Miller-Sensini, head of home buying for House of Fraser, to share her views on the hottest trends for 2009.
The boutique vibe is going to be big in both fashion and interiors this season.
Waterfall pillowcases, Boudoir cushion, Celeste glass lamp, Lilac Priya small embroidered throw and Chrysanthemum wallpaper.
Blossom Prints
Tracy Thomas, Commercial director at Sofa Workshop, gives her views on new trends
For Spring 2009, we’ll be upholstering some of our more traditional models in bolder, more contemporary fabrics, so expect to see lots of pretty florals in brighter colours, such as pink and yellow.
Fancy Nancy chair, Shanghai Chic side plate, Etched picture frame and Linea Chinoiserie cushion.
